For something different in 2018, NBGC went to Reno this year for the Saturday and Sunday rounds. Friday, on the way up, was a new course for the Club – Auburn Valley. Nestled in the oaks and pines of northwest Auburn the course moved among gently sloped ridges. The greens were challenging – looking like the moved one way, but mostly moving the opposite!

The Club was hosted at Arrow Creek Golf Club in Reno by Jim and Sasa Puchbauer. Jim is the past-president and Sasa past-treasurer. They moved to Reno in 2017 when the company Jim works for moved administration and production to Nevada.

The Challenge course definitely lived up to its name on Saturday, due mostly to a steady 20mph – with up to 40mph gusts – ‘Zephyr’ wind blowing down from Mount Rose. Sunday was quite pleasant weather-wise.

But, the best moment of the weekend – a HOLE-IN-ONE by Rick Merkel the last day – Legends course, hole #12, a 136-yard par 3. He also managed 6 birdies in addition!
