About Us

The North Bay Golf Club (NBGC) has existed for over 30 years. Our Home Course is Paradise Valley in Fairfield, but our tournaments and general play-days range from Bodega Bay to Auburn, and Livermore to the Sacramento area.

Members are from Solano, Sacramento, Contra Costa, Napa, Marin, Alameda, San Joaquin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, and is composed of both men and women (90% Men, 10% Women).

We play 18 tournaments a year, from February through November. Our tournaments are every other week, on Saturdays or Sundays, at different golf courses within approximately 50 miles of Fairfield.

In addition to gross and net tournament winners, we kick up the fun factor by offering optional competitions for skins (net and gross), closest to the pin, Nassau (net and gross) and a putting contest at each tournament. Points are earned for the end of the year festivities.

Usually, in September of each year, we have a Weekend of Golf – favorite destinations are the Reno/Tahoe area and Carmel/Monterey. We play three rounds – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It’s an opportunity to bring non-playing significant others to socialize with club members, have group dinners and fun activities.

The North Bay Golf Club Board of Directors has approved the following rules:

    • Remember PACE of PLAY. Keep up with the group in front of you.
    • If your ball lies in a divot or aeration mark you may take relief within 6 inches, no closer to the hole. No penalty.
    • Spike marks on the green may be repaired.
    • If your ball lies in an area of the golf course that you think should be designated “Ground Under Repair”, with the agreement of another player in your group you may take relief. No penalty.
    • If your ball is lost anywhere on the course other than out of bounds, rather than returning to spot of previous stroke you may drop a ball as near the spot where you and another player suspect ball should be and take 1 stroke penalty. This includes all rough areas parallel to fairways not designated as hazard. Penalty: 1 stroke. <<< NBGC RULE ONLY  –  This option does NOT apply if a provisional ball has been played.  (Local rule E-5)
    • While in a sand bunker and your ball comes to rest in foot print that was not raked, a player may take a drop in the bunker no closer to the hole. No penalty.

In an effort to speed up play the following rule changes are being implemented:

  • Each player should try to improve awareness of how fast we play.
  • Whenever possible help other players look for lost balls
  • Anytime you may have hit your shot out of bounds, PLAY A PROVISIONAL ball and take a second shot so you will not need to return to replay the shot.
  • When you reach the green start lining up your putt rather than waiting for others to complete putting.
  • If you will not be standing in another players line putt out rather than marking.
  • Play “Ready Play Golf” ALWAYS!

The most important shot in golf is the next one.
